Todays job
Had some fun today cleaning for a friend. (He had that plastic junk carpet that we all hate). To make matters worse he has a huge dog (lab) so carpet was loaded with dog oil, and that plastic soaks it up like a sponge. I have in the past struggled at times to get this kind of carpet completely clean, but with the right chems and a rotovac, seems easy now.
Loaded my filter almost half full on just 2 rooms..

Not to be your mom but you should wear gloves. One staple that drawls blood and who knows what you get. I do murder and suicide cleanup and have had some real scares. Nice results.

Don't want to hijack this thread John. But you should start a topic and tell us about the ins and outs of murder/ suicide clean up.
Re: Todays job
Please do, I have my certification but have no idea where to start or what to stock. Thats the only thing holding me back from getting my feet wet. How bout a get your feet wet start up guide.
Ok back to the topic. Great work andy. Why the bad taste for bonnet cleaning now. Were your potential clients snubbing you because you cleaned vlm?

Re: Todays job
I always notice the wrong things when I view a video. Sure, the point was the rotary extractor, but I couldn't help but notice other things like the way Andy is dressed and that he was wearing hearing protection...professional cleaning.
Nice work.
Nice work.
Re: Todays job
Oh for crying out loud Milspec, As I said I was cleaning for a friend, so no need to dress up in slacks and fancy shoes for this job. I put the ear protection on during the filter viewing because I was standing about 10 feet from my TM , I want to be able to enjoy my hearing in my old age.
Ryan,
No bad taste for VLM cleaning. The video was prompted by an earlier debate with a few VLM die hards who kept claiming OP with Micro fiber pads removed more soil then a TM. The video was made to show them the truth, It was all in good fun.
I still do plenty of VLM cleaning, but not near as much as I used to.

I didn't mean it sarcastically sir, I was being serious. Much of the time all you see is tennis shoes, shorts, and a "Don't F-k with Mr. Zero" t-shirts. I thought you were dressed rather professional. Same goes for the hearing protection, do you know how hard it is to get a young cleaner to wear a set? That too shows a professional approach.
I guess I didn't get that message across correctly the first time....of course I sit here with a bad flu right now and the Nyquil hasn't kicked in yet.
Re: Todays job
No problem Milspec, I'm just used to being made fun of by jealous cleaners,
As a result,, I misjudged your post. Take a shoot of vodka for your flu, it will help dry out your lungs, and loosen your joints.

I went with the rum and coke method last night...feeling much better today and ready to tackle a few apartments.
Also, you will never see me disrespect a fellow cleaner who has passion for his craft....you guys should be surrounded by jealous cleaners, you are the role models.

What tool was that you were using? I've never used anything other than the wand, I kind alike the look of that one.

That is a Rotovac 360i rotary extractor and power extraction is probably the best way to fight those neglected poly carpets. A wand just falls short in my experience as they really require a healthy scrubbing...I mean scrubbing. I just finished a few apartments using the new to me CRB to agitate the prespray followed by extraction with the Hoss. Scrub a poly and you will win...well, as much as a 12 year old matted poly will let you.
