Caveman drilling
I was cutting some holes in the aluminum box of my truck today to route my water lines using my 18v Dewalt drill. It was a slow process and it took several minutes to cut through the thick aluminum walls....it was so irritating and when there was any binding, the clutch would let go. I was done with it and went shopping.
I decided that I was done with cordless tools and wanted a good corded 3/8 inch drill. I stumbled on a drill from Bostich that was being sold for $42 at the local hardware store. I wasn't considering that brand when I went shopping, but for the price, it was worth the try.

Holy freakin cow! This thing packs some power! The torque is impressive and it ran that hole saw through the aluminum walls in exactly 6 seconds! I finished the 6 holes in less than 5 minutes counting the blade changes. Not bad for $42.
Cordless is convenient, but I am going back to the cord for projects. I don't know if this is the most powerful drill out there, but compared to my cordless, it feels like lightning in my hand.

Re: Caveman drilling
I wonder how it will do on my thick stainless tank. I may need it to mount my HX
Re: Caveman drilling
You pulled the trigger on the HX plan? That is something that I will be watching closely.
I drilled a hole through the ss steel tab that holds the fuel pump to adjust the mounting. Cordless drill struggled badly. Bostich not a problem.
Seriously, this drill is powerful...wonder what their 1/2 inch model is like?

Re: Caveman drilling
I bought a used HX and LG3 sight unseen hopefully one of them works. He said he was getting mad 220 degrees with the HX. I hope it doesn't turn out to be pre heater
