Wheew! Disaster averted, huh!?milspec6 wrote:An update:
I had the meeting and we walked over to the building for inspection. I was bracing for the worst after all the panic reports the day before. When we walked through the building, things were dry and no odors present...they ran the a/c all day to remove moisture.
Here is the strange part, the carpet looked really good minus a couple of dirt streaks that only I noticed. The employees were actually complimentary after seeing the filthy carpet for years and asked if I would be cleaning it more often in the future.
End of the day, it was placed on a quarterly cleaning schedule in 2014. I officially live in bizarro world now.
Man, I'm glad it was just being blown outa proportion and it worked out good. Time to celebrate!!
That's why I try not to get myself too worked up about stuff, and over think,(not saying that's what you did, just giving an example of what I do ), because just when I have myself convinced I'm not getting a big job, lets just say 'because I aaume my price was too high', they call me and say we want you to do the job, and we 'thought it would cost more!'

Davey,
I should have been more specific. I demoed it for a few months and I do mostly commercial/hospitality. Not one specific job.

Re: Cimex or CRB
I did actually add the weight kit a few months ago and it really woke up the machine's performance. I am looking into adding that sprayborg, but it seemed over-priced the last time that I looked.CleanTech wrote:glad it worked out for you!
get the sprayborg, or just make the darn thing if your able to then get the weight kit, or again have it made. I permanently leave 2 weight plates on per side. On the orbot its mandatory imo. Only has around 35 pounds of head weight otherwise which is not enough.
or just get your self a zipper.....
Oh, and I like the Zipper tease.....
Re: Cimex or CRB
Oh ok, now that I re-read what you said, you didn't give an indication it was all one job anyways, like I assumed.bwild wrote:Davey,

Re: Cimex or CRB
Cimex or a good OP machine with sprayer, the crb has a place but not a stand alone for commercial
Re: Cimex or CRB
Based on the conditions mentioned, I would use a cimex. CRB are useful, but I have both and have done side by side to understand the difference. Cimex or rotary will outperform the crb.
I still use the crb on warranty jobs that prohibit using rotary machines, but I also hwe those jobs more often.
How far were you carrying the water? If the water was close enough, an auto-fill?auto-dump machine with atleast 500 psi could save a lot of time on big commercial jobs. Follow up hwe with encap and bonnet will show amazing results and dry quicker.

Re: Cimex or CRB
Every time I convince myself that the crb is the next tool for me, I find someone who turns me back towards the cimex. I am starting to think that I need both just to decide for myself, but that would be costly.
As for water supply...it was 200 feet away from much of the job. I have that same job on a quarterly schedule this year so I will experiment a little to find the right approach. The first one will be making sure that I bring some extra bodies.

Re: Cimex or CRB
These type commercial jobs can go for about three years with encap cleaning before you want to flush with TM. I would think that an orbot or cimex would be perfect for this application. If you don't have the on board application system have a helper with a multi sprayer apply the encap in front like Mo did in his video.

Re: Cimex or CRB
Crb= High speed and easy pre agitation for hwe or tile cleaning. Lite vlm work. Super maneuverable and portable.
Cimex= Huge commercial vlm accounts. Straight encap super fast with pads. Idiot proof.
175 or jiggler= Smaller commercial vlm, stripping and waxing, padcap, etc.... Most versatile.

Re: Cimex or CRB
I'm with Fuzzsucker. Only difference is I will use the Cimex to do the intial cleaning and run a CRB right behind picking up the crud left behind and sometimes making the carpet look a little prettier.

Re: Cimex or CRB
A crb is good if you do a regular maintenance and picking up hair and debree out of the carpet fibers but I think the cimex cleans better.

Re: Cimex or CRB
How long you can go on commercial before you "flush" is largely dependant on what polymer you're using and what method.
If you're encapping, going longer than a year is too long imo. If you're padcapping properly you can go longer, but especially if you're using a crystal. Films should be flushed annually from my experience. If you go years between HWE with a filmcap, you're going to go through a case of defoamer.
