Post by Alexis64 Thu Mar 03, 2016 2:59 am

Because of the awful climate conditions, my floors have faded out so I want it to be restored with some sort of wax ground surface done on top of the main floor so that it looks shiny and fresh dependably. Would like ideas on any expert in floor buffing services, Toronto

If it's faded, you need to sand it down and re-stain it then refinish the floor, no way around that unfortunately.

Alexis, find them on Yelp or Angie's list, Angie's need a paid subscription to search for a contractor and Yelp is free.
I would recommend to find someone specialized in wood floor restoration as you don't want them to sand too much.
Good luck.

UMMMMmmmm what type of flooring is it? Stone, wood, Ceramic tile, VCT?

That kinda makes a big difference, when it comes to what needs to be done and who to call to "Restore" it. Smile

Ask people you know, first. Who they might recommend.
Check with a home builders assocation.
Talk with some flooring stores. Don't go by who they know( it could be anyone)but by who they trust/refer.

I could be wrong, but I think Angies has changed that now?....That is, now non members can also search for service providers......maybe someone here with more AL experience could confirm?

I know a couple reviews I've gotten on there were from non-members, that were able to find me on there. But it's said that their reviews aren't as creditable, because they are not members........but I think that's a whole neither story. laughing

I think they can review you but cant search for contractors without being a member.

The old angies list back when it started was non profit and only a customer could put you up on the list by giving you a review

Thank you all for your replies.
I have just got a suggestion from one of my friends in town about a professional(ErgoClean) serving such floor buffing services.
Have you guys heard about them or their services?

Franchise set-ups are never my favorite recommendations. Most franchises have techs on the job and no owners. Those techs normally work on commission of some sort so their goal is to up-sell everything.

Looking at their website, it sounds like they also do construction clean-ups and I have no idea what the "16 steps" method is that they use on floors. None of that gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

That being said, if your buddy gives them a thumbs up and your buddy isn't an idiot....then you should have your answer.

I agreed with Rob, the bad thing about franchise is consistency, if you get someone with experience and care about his work, you will get a well done job, but if not, you're going to end up wasting your hard earned money.
I would check their reviews on Yelp and Angie's list and look for specific technician's name that does good work and request for him / her.

Floor restoration Empty Re: Floor restoration

Post by EdwardECharette Wed May 11, 2016 12:09 am

If you are having a hardwood floor make sure to take an estimate of the cost before undertaking this restoration work. I have come across many services providing restoration services ranging from  floor restoration to buffing. There are firms which insure and license their work which in fact makes them more reliable. Make sure every detail is mentioned in the contract.  They provide maintenance work for all kinds of flooring from vinyl to any other flooring materials. Most of them do it by stripping and waxing your floors. I often take services from these professionals considering the amount of strain that goes into it. Last time I took the help of Ergoclean Inc, a floor restoration and buffing services. Even though at times the cost of restoration  seems to be high it’s always good to restore than to start from the scratch. Laughing

Google your area plus the work you want done to you floor. You'll easily find many companies near you that you can compare prices and service quality aswell.
