Holes glide to slot glide ?
Last time I ordered glide for my spare wand, Lisa sent me a holed glide instead of the slot, I know if I told her she would exchange it but I hate to ship stuff, so I didn't, I figured it's for my spare wand anyway, now that spare wand is not for spare anymore, have you guys ever cut the middle of glides and turn holed glide into slotted glide ? I'm thinking of using Dremel to do that, what do you think ?

Re: Holes glide to slot glide ?
yup, used a dremel like air tool. We had a holed glide on one of our VT14s and I couldnt stand that thing.
we have a lot of pine trees here and sometimes the carpet is vacuumed just fine or its commercial carpet but just a few pine needles get tracked inside and the holed glides just wont pick up anything at all.
I took the air tool and connected every other set of 2 holes to make same size slots as the other wand's glide. Worked just fine, also I have renotched both wands glides several times to get more use out of them. Then had to sand down the face just to make sure there was no burrs
Glides are just ridiculously over priced $200 for a small piece of plastic is robbery imo. You could 3D print those things for next to nothing.
lots of cleaners will say its the best purchase they ever made, and that may be true but it doesnt make that little piece of plastic worth $200

Re: Holes glide to slot glide ?
Well, the good ones are teflon and not plastic. A plastic glide for $200 would be getting robbed. Teflon.....still higher than it should be, but as long as they last a season or more, they are a good value.
The lip glides on my Mach 15 has lasted 3 years thus far and it sees a steady diet of 40-50 thousand sqft of commercial carpet a month. Sadly, not the same for my glides on the PCQ...might be weight-related?

Joes prices are a lot less. If, you want to wrestle with that pony.
Never used a hole one. If your doing nice residential and you pre vac- then a holed one would be the choice.
For hacks- slotted, with mods to suck up little bits of debris.

Slots for commercial is a must! Hybrids work well on residential...you can still suck up some debris if you work at it.
With open slots or even better, the lip glides, I can pick up wood chips, popcorn, etc. without stopping to vacuum. That saves me probably an hour per job right there.

Re: Holes glide to slot glide ?
Tony's glide is actually not a bad option, they last longer than green glide imho, but you have to put goop as they leak a little air at the end of the glide.
I stick to green glide because they do support veterans by giving them free glides. Plus Lisa has been more than awesome to me over the years, Tony as well.

Re: Holes glide to slot glide ?
I still support Green Glides when I can, but their prices are getting a little high lately. If they last for a full season or two, it can still be good value, but some of them cost enough that you could have replaced the wand instead after the second glide expense.
I do have my limits, but GG customer service has kept me in support thus far. If that ever dropped or the price jumped much higher, I would probably look elsewhere.
