Edic portable Empty Edic portable

Post by dp1 Fri Sep 30, 2016 7:57 am

I bought this new several years ago, with minimal usage I had issues with water pump a few months after I bought it and Edic replaced the pump with a better one no charge, never had issues with it until 2 nights ago when all of a sudden it stopped working, I thought there is a fuse somewhere, apparently there is no main fuse, yesterday late afternoon through a guy who sold it to me, I got Rick's cell # ( the main mechanic at Edic ), he spent a good half hour with me trying to solve the problem, that's what I call customer service, why can't all companies treat us like this after sales ? I figure someone out there is considering Edic purchase, I can honestly say I couldn't be happier with mine ( 2000 cx-hr ) 500 psi adjustable.

The key is that you were able to talk to the main mechanic. It is like going to an auto dealership, you will be treated a lot differently by the salesman than you will by the shop manager. The hard part is getting that cell number.

Glad they got it fixed....what did it turn out to be?

Lol Mo, very funny ! I just took it to him earlier today and in 5 minutes he came back out and told me I need a new power cord, no labor charge at all, unfortunately he can't sell me the power cord, it has to go through a distributor, which is fine by me.
Nonetheless great customer service !

Was the power cord wrinkled up from heat?

No the cord wasn't wrinkled up, thanks Ed, I'll see if they have a shorter cord and I'll just add extension cord to it.
Otherwise $ 65 for a 50 foot power cord isn't too bad of a price, is it ?

You do know that the power cord is just a extension cord with the female end cut off and hard wired to the machine. Just get the right gauge wire.

I actually like the idea of a short cord on the machine. It prevents tangling up and stores easier. My HOS Orbot has a long-ass cord and I never liked it compared to the short cord on my rotary extractor.

Just make sure that you buy the right gauge and a high quality extension cord....you will find them at the link I sent you.

Oh my gosh, I'm not thinking right, I just got it now, okay, I feel really dumb, so what gauge I should get with mine ? No heater, 500 psi with dual 3 stage vac.

You could probably get by with a 12 gauge, but I like more efficient cords, so I would look at 10 gauge in a 50 footer.

My Scandia/truck port has a 3-4 inch cords out of the machine and I have 12 gauge extension cords on it.

One cord powers vacs, the other the motors for the pump and the dump.

I like not having long cords on the machine. Makes it a lot easier moving, loading, and setting up.

So I want to thank Eddie for always helping me out when I'm in a pickle, I bought a 10 gauge extension cord and on my way to the commercial job, I realized that the plug coming out of my machine is not a regular male plug, it's a twisted plug, I called Eddie and he told me to go to HD and get an adapter, HD don't have one premade but I had to buy the 2 adapter and a piece of cord to attach them to, made them on the way back to the job and plugged it in and boom it worked, was late for the job but managed to get it done and that's all that matter, thanks Ed Very Happy
