vt 12 Spray Bar
The spray bar on my vt 12 sprung a massive leaking making the wand useless. Any temporary fixes until I get another one. Water proof JB weld didn't work. Why does it seem equipment break downs happen at the worst time. Now I know wjy you guys have spare wands.
Re: vt 12 Spray Bar
WTH....you have 3 holes, how did that happen? The spray bar doesn't have a seem to fail, so how did this happen?
I guess you could try a product called "rescue tape" which can do wonders on pipes. Should be able to find it at an ACE or maybe an auto parts store. I buy it at a farming supply shop.

Looks like Home Depot has it as well. It can handle the heat and should be able to handle the psi as well. The only problem is going to be the shape of the spray bar. I have patched up a lot of pipe and hose and with it, but it is hit and miss sometimes.

Re: vt 12 Spray Bar
Always have 3-4 wands as back-ups for just such a situation. I even have a couple of extra spray bars.
I would like to see a close up of the leak point. I looked at my spray bars and can't see how that could happen. Is it the weld around the jet collar? I see 3 spray streams in the video which has me confused.

Re: vt 12 Spray Bar
Actually, forget the tape idea. Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get yourself some silver solder and a propane torch. Should be an easy fix....get a decent percentage of silver solder (40-50%), clean it up with a SS brush or emery tape, and melt away.
Re: vt 12 Spray Bar
It's a square spray bar and it leaks where the square angle meets. I have another one in the way but this maybe a good time to get a 14 inch wand. Thanks for the silver solder rip
Re: vt 12 Spray Bar
Did this wand freeze by chance? I can't see it failing under natural conditions.
Always good to have a back-up....even an old PCQ works well.

Re: vt 12 Spray Bar
I think you just became an honorary cold weather carpet cleaner with the rank and privileges that go along with it......which there aren't any.
Check all your fittings as well and start buying replacements. Much of the time, the freeze damage will not show up until weeks or months later....even at really warm temps. The cold puts a hairline crack in them that will open up down the road.

The van is going on the garage every night now, The cold kind of snuck up on me this year. But then again this wand had a pin hole leak when I first got it and joe sent me another one, The metal must be thin

Re: vt 12 Spray Bar
It was a good reminder to me to keep the wands inside. My living room looks like the showroom floor at Interlink Supply during the winter. Every foot of the floor is covered in chemical jugs, psi hose, or tools.

Re: vt 12 Spray Bar
same thing happened to me with one of our old prochem knock off stair tools.
it was left in a cold shop, if they freeze the spray bar will burst

Re: vt 12 Spray Bar
Makes sense since they remain full of water. Even a pump housing can burst if frozen, so a spray bar would stand no chance.
Just on of the joys cleaning in the cold. It is 15 degrees out right now with single digit windchill...I was going to clean up the van, but stayed inside instead. Both trucks were winterized and unloaded, but I still keep a ceramic heater going in them just the same to be sure.

Re: vt 12 Spray Bar
I was just at my Brother's boat shop where he had several customers who had their boats freeze due to a power outage. The motors were ruined across the board....pistons cracked.
I hope you winterized your boat Mo before that cold front rolled into town.

Re: vt 12 Spray Bar
Do I need ronfog an outboard if the boat is in the garage. Just goes to show you were my priorities are. The boat has been in the garage since the summer and I let the van freeze.

Re: vt 12 Spray Bar
Wow ! Tony is very generous ! He hasn't charged me for a pressure hose for my rotovac 360 last time I was there, I need to go there soon, I need filter socks for my filter.
