Using "Next Door" for leads Empty Using "Next Door" for leads

Post by milspec6 Mon May 08, 2017 8:15 am

I just booked my 3rd job this week all from the site "Next Door.com" that I have become listed on. I am not actually in any of those neighborhoods either, but past customers have been listing me on the site in their areas. The last one that called told me that there were several recommendations that I was "Very professional and reasonable priced" which is sort of a double-edged sword at times. Razz

The only sad part is that I am stealing the job from an another cleaner that did live in that neighborhood and had been cleaning this house every year for the past 3 years. When I asked him why he was changing, he told me that the guy sold the business to one of his techs.

So, 2 lessons learned on this one. The first being that resources like "Next Door" can be an asset even if you are not in that area and the second being that if you buy out another cleaner, don't expect his customer list to have much value to you.

I found a man on my property smoking crack in my bushes. One of my dogs actually found him.. he was asleep after getting high either crack or heroin not sure actually

I told him im armed and he needs to get out immediately, he walks out of my bushes and up the street, tries to enter a different area of my property but saw me following him..

Then proceeds to car prowl every car he walks by as hes heading north.

I posted it on "next door" to warn other neighbors. They flagged the posting and told me I was discriminating against him. They told me the homeless are apart of the community just as much as I am.

I deleted my account. lol.. thats liberal seattle for ya.
and thats my only "next door" story.

I understand your point as it really is mostly a neighborhood association sort of thing. I have been kicked off several of them because people complained that I didn't live in those areas, but I keep getting put back on by past customers.

When I joined, I was the first and only member for my neighborhood, so it had zero value.

As long as people want to put me on there at no cost to me, I am more than happy to service those areas.

We have that nextdoor.com here to and i of course joined, i'm lovin it so far, there are 5 other local carpet cleaners on there to but i'm at the top of the list with the most recomendations. I did a real nasty one last week and got it looking great, posted some before and afters and got 5 calls because of it.

Believe it or not, they don't have one in my city, they signed me up to 2 cities further than me and that city also have another city right next to it included in that group, so far it's a bust for me, seems like the members are some rich snobs that I don't want as customers anyway.
