In all honesty, Rob, I hope you do well and grow the heck out of your business. We both face hurtles in our business, and I hope you win the end game.

I understand how your struggle has been stressful. Maybe this is your YEAR to knock them dead. If I can do anything to help, just let me know.

I appreciate all the support, that is one of the other tough things about running solo, there is nobody to discuss it with. Well, there is the fern in my bathroom, but we never have much to say to each other.

I canvassed for hours today in each town and will be posting some more to my FB page tonight. Beyond that, I just have to get on the truck tomorrow and start cleaning again. As long as I can make that Legion Hall come back from the dead after 15 years of neglect, I might gain some attention. At least I will feel less depressed about the situation while I am working this week.

We had near 60 degree weather this weekend, but it is supposed to be around freezing the next few days. With the exception of my commercial contract, I don't expect to hear many calls until the weather warms up again on Friday. One never knows for certain though.

Great freezing rain right now....one more kick when I'm down. Today's job might have to be re-scheduled.

And now it is snowing with 40 mph gusts....I think somebody is trying to tell me something with 3 hours until job time.

I may have said this a few times, but I hate winter

Dang, job was called off by the customer. The Sun never came out and the windchill is stuck in the teens, so they called off. Hopefully I will be able to pick it up later this week yet.

I have no doubt about that Mo, vampires everywhere.

I had a couple of calls today and picked up a church for next week so there is some cracks forming in the ice. Unfortunately, the weather is doing its best impersonation of December. We had 2 inches of snow this morning with blustery winds all day that makes my house sound like an old sailing ship. Not many thinking about spring cleaning with single digit windchills. It is supposed to start warming up on Friday, so maybe next week will be better.

So true Mo. It barely broke freezing today with strong wind gusts and fully over-cast skies. Hard to be happy with that and even harder to convince people now is a good time to clean. Tomorrow is supposed to hit upper 30's so that should be a little better.

I knocked the Legion Hall out of the part...lots of grease from all the chicken frying events, but it was no match. What sucked is that I missed a call while cleaning and since it had an out-of-state area code with no message, I wrote it off as a sales marketer. When I got home, it turned out to be a small office building in a neighboring small town. Hopefully, I can still win that one back in the morning between jobs.

Feels good to be back on the truck and cleaning again. Not very large jobs yet, but at least I can fill about 4 hours each day to end the week.

The coldest it got this year was 13 degrees last year down to 5 overnight. We barely got above freezing in Jan. I get depressed when it doesn't get above 50 degrees Very Happy

Hope you get that one Rob. Cleaning does pick up your spirits when youre slow as hell.

Most if the calls ive been getting are google sales calls with local numbers frustrating as hell

Post by milspec6 Sat Mar 10, 2018 2:26 pm

I didn't realize you experienced those temps in the winter Mo, it is no wonder you feel the same way that I do about it. I come out of winter depressed and stressed over finances every year.

We are now into a warming stage with all days next week above 45 degrees during the day with several expected to reach 60!! I still have to protect the TM's at night for another month, but it should spark business. It is funny actually, normally I get swamped in commercial in March and then the residential hits in April. So far, the commercial is dead, but some residential is showing up. It violates the pattern for the last 10 years, so I am hoping that the commercial was just waiting for all the snow to finally be over and that things will be picking up very soon.

I do feel a whole lot less defeated now that some jobs are showing up. It isn't nearly enough yet to save me, but the spark at least makes me feel like their is a chance. The rest will be up to the public.

Awesome, it sounds like a good start to the Spring. I only have 1 good one and 2 small ones on the schedule for the week so far, but that can all change.
