CL finds......
Saw an interesting ad the other day. Old astro van, 120k miles. With a HM direct drive in it. TM worked fine, but the van threw a rod or something like that. He had no interest in spend the dough to fix. Wanted $1,000.
Couldn't find the listing today:(
Was thinking of a project?

Yes, find it and buy it!
There have been a few people running Astro vans with TM's. The key is that you will not likely be able to carry a fresh water tank, but it will not matter during warm weather cleanings on residential. The blower and pump alone would be worth the $1000.
If it didn't have any rust issues, replacing the moter (often had a 4.3L) wouldn't be too bad and you would end up with easy to maneuver, fair mileage getting, working TM for less than $6000 in the end. That doesn't sound like a bad idea to me.
