Best wands
Im sure this discussion took place before BUT I need to bring it up again.
When I went and got all my new equipment I had a budget set for myself as to no over spend....I stayed strong on it and actually got more things then originally planned for....so, I trimmed down a little on my wand upgrade as I was torn on what one to get anyway....I figured I would have two or three as I have in the past....The wand that came with my equipment is okay but I want a better wand. I cant remember what I used in the past but two of my four wands were awsome and I would buy them today if I could find them! soo, give me your thoughts on wands again please. Actually I am going to buy two.....Titanium and the other will be what you help me with....I dont like them thin and "tinny".

Re: Best wands
Since you are already going with a titanium (VT, PMF, PC, etc) in a large head size, you just need a good 12 inch low profile wand for crowded residential.
For that one, I don't think you can do much better than the old standard Prochem Quad. It continues to be a very good wand and one that you probably used in the past and liked.
I really like my VT12 with window, but the PC quad is always on my truck and gets used each week when needed. It does have some upgrades, but even the original is a good buy.

Re: Best wands
If only there was a cleaning forum that had a wand that you could borrow for a couple of weeks to test before you bought it.
Re: Best wands
Man you need to find a wand that is being designed around a real cleaner who goes out and uses it everyday......Hmmmmm JK JK JK
Get a VT I am sure you will love it
The PC 4 is as bullet proof as you can get still on my van today. I keep it unglided when I get places that scare my vacuum, even though it is smaller, I make better time with it un glided vs taking off vac hose to suck crap up with a larger glided wand.
Being smaller also allows a little easier push pull un glided, and no wand gap bridge is a HUGE plus no hair balls ever. I hate that dam bridge brace

Need some links to some of these you guys are mentioning....I seen some but only limited as the place I got my equipment from was low because of a big event they had prior to my arrival.

They are good for the right person. I have an XL one that I used for residential for about a year. It has good recovery and the swivel really lets you just steer it around objects. The carbon fiber looks neat, but is heavier than a Ti wand by quite a bit. They do make teflon glides as well.
The biggest problem that they have is the spray bar. It sits really high and over-sprays like crazy, but there has been some re-designs since I purchase mine so maybe that has been corrected.
Oh, and there are 2 other issues with them.
1. The wand extends too far behind the trigger placing extra hose weight on your hand. Well, it isn't weight, but the position adds more torqe behind the hand pulling it down in the back with a 2 inch hose. Could be corrected with a saw blade or whip hose.
2. The tube is actually wider than a 2 inch tube, so small hands would not be happy with it. I have large hands, but they will cramp up after about 8 hours of straight wanding...doesn't happen with other wands.
Re: Best wands
Great, thanks for the info. I have the chance to get a new one for $350, but don't need another unused wand laying around, which I'm afraid would happen.

Re: Best wands
With all the residential that you do, you might want to try it. It really does allow you get around things and is awesome for closets. You just might have to saw off some of the extra tube and change that spray bar set-up.
If it has the glide already, offer him $225...it would be worth it then.

Re: Best wands
Dave, you should buy it so I can buy it from you used for half price
I use a pmf mach 12, it is titanium but it's 12", the only downside is you need a 1.5" whip which to most members here in the forum think that it's a huge vac restriction, I wish Terje is still here to defend me in this issue, lol, he tested cleaning with 2" wand and 1.5" wand and he said the dry times difference is only a few minutes.
I would never clean without a glide ever in my life, the bridge gap Tom is talking about can be fixed by lifting the wand a half an inch and angle the wand up towards the baseboard and spray and vacuum, it's pretty simple I think. I hardly can move my PC titanium with glide on a certain carpets, I'm saving my back for my old age, lol.

I'd totally disagree with that, unless the rest of the system being used wasn't opened up for less restriction, then I could see it only making a small difference.
But if everything else is free flowing with 2", and the 1.5" tubed wand, and whip hose are the only things causing restriction, then I can't see why going to 2" tubed wand with 2" hose connected to it wouldn't make a big difference, like I noticed when I made that switch.
And I'm glad he cut his own throat and not still around.

Re: Best wands
A whip hose is a must for your stair tool otherwise your just making life harder on your self for no reason because there is zero difference in dry times that you or customers will notice. Â Â
I like to just roll with 2in for the wand though since the tube is 2inch. Â not big on 1.5inch wands

Re: Best wands
1.5 whip is my favorite on stair tools for agility and since most hose adapters suck anyway.
I do think a whip hurts vac on a wand, but not sure how much really if you are still running larger hose behind it. Sometimes the flexibility of a whip is really nice in tight confines.

Re: Best wands
Dave, if you still have a 1.5" wand, you should do some testing by cleaning half a room with that and the other half with 2" wand, if you don't have one, I can let you use mine, let me know if you're interested in testing this out next time we meet.
