Swivel wands vs regular wands.
I was skeptical with swivel wands until I used one, it's definitely a learning curve, I'm beginning to like it, but still not sure if I'm willing to bring 2 wands in the van, the plus is of course easy to maneuver around furnitures, cleaning under furnitures, beds, etc.
The bad thing is some can be very floppy which makes it hard when you have 2 steps going down from dining room to family room and you need to clean the vertical sides of those steps, the other bad is it's harder to rest the wand down when you need to move furnitures and such, I usually set the wand down on the vac head facing up so that the vac slot is not covered by carpets.
I haven't used swivel wands that long, what else is the good and bad besides the one mentioned above ?
Oh AC, you mentioned there are 4 options on swivel wands, I only know 2, the Bentley and Challenger, what are the other 2 ?

Another bad can be on the back stroke. If you use a long pull, like me, it gets tiring trying to hold the wand in a straight path over several hours.
I'm still surprised that you don't already carry a second wand on the truck. I roll with 3 most of the time, plus stair, edger, and upholstery tools. I just haven't found that one wand to replace all others yet.

Oh, I carry stair wand and upholstery tool, just not an extra wand, once in a while I do bring a pmf Mach 12 ( 1.5" ) for those apartments with super tight rooms.

Re: Swivel wands vs regular wands.
I'll give you another one.....after using it for 8 hours on that store. They can kill your back when wanding for extended periods.
It saved me time on that store by allowing me to steer around the displays, but at the end of the day, my back was killing me from all the added twisting and pulling around objects.
I take it back....a swivel wand will not stay on my truck after-all.

Haha, so many unknown factors it sounds like, until you actually get your hands on it huh.

It always amazes me what you find out when using a tool for 8 hours straight. It doesn't take much to have a big impact.
Another example is how titanium wands have such thin walls that the tube will heat up and actually give you first degree burns if you don't wear a glove....and I'm running one of those "luke warm" Butler units with a max temp of 200 degrees. It isn't a problem with a lot of stop and go residential, but a wand held wide open for hours will burn the hell out of you.

Re: Swivel wands vs regular wands.
I suppose it would Dp, but to varying degrees. I'm sure nobody is designing tools for idiots like me are pushing a wand around for that long. If they did, it would probably be mounted on a hover round with an ice chest.
Re: Swivel wands vs regular wands.
I always remind myself when I'm exhausted working long hours in the summer / holiday season that I will get extra rest hours in the winter, that usually will keep me going.

Well, I don't have a cleaning schedule like yours, so I don't have to clean back to back more than 3 days in a row. I catch up pretty quickly most of the time.
Re: Swivel wands vs regular wands.
Hey DP when your done with that wand send it over to me. I really dont want to wait for 4 months for dave to try it out
Re: Swivel wands vs regular wands.
Mo, Tony has asked me to bring it back to him first, I think he wants that nut on the head changed.
I might bring it back to him today, I'll let Tony know that you want to try it, does he have your address ?

Re: Swivel wands vs regular wands.
my guy you saw in the pic of us was working for UPS when I stole him from there.
he will tell you the funniest stories about that place. They have college degree suits whos job is to figure out exactly how little you can pay the drivers and plant workers so they will still show up for work.
They have it perfect right at the threshold of I need the money but im borderline about to kill someone. Regular blow ups and fights happen, everyone is pissed off 24/7
They toss packages around like you wouldnt believe, his plant lost a panasonic contract worth millions from so much damage loss. lol

Re: Swivel wands vs regular wands.
Oh I believe.....I have a few packages that look like they were drop shipped out the airplane toilet.
Re: Swivel wands vs regular wands.
LOL
I also think putting a "FRAGILE" sticker on a box you're shipping is just an invitation to those guys to beat, throw and kick it around as much as possible. I'm sure FedEx, wouldn't do that though, right, Mo?

Re: Swivel wands vs regular wands.
No never FedEx there awesome Dave.
If a company wants to get reimbursed for package damages they need to send their packages for lab testing. They are expected to pass compression, vibration, and a free fall drop test. A package of 70lbs or less is supposed to withstand a drop of 30 feet If it doesn't pass the testing your going to need to spend some coin to package them correctly so they will

Haha, good info, Mo.
